How to use the Hreflang Generator & Checker

01

List your page versions

02

Copy the tag block

Add an x-default row for your fallback page, then copy the generated tag block.

03

Add it to every version

Paste the same complete block into the head of every version of the page (or into your XML sitemap).

04

Check existing tags

To check an existing setup, paste your current hreflang tags into the checker and fix anything it flags.

About the Hreflang Generator & Checker

Hreflang is one of the easiest SEO features to get almost right and have it count for nothing. A single invalid country code, a missing return tag or a relative URL quietly invalidates the cluster, and most sites never notice because nothing visibly breaks. This hreflang generator builds the tag set for you from a simple table of your page versions, so the format, the codes and the x-default entry are correct by construction.

The built-in checker covers the other half of the job. Paste in the hreflang tags already on your site and it validates every language and country code against the ISO lists, spots duplicates fighting over the same audience, flags URLs that are not absolute, and reminds you when the x-default fallback is missing. Everything runs in your browser; no URL is fetched and nothing leaves your device.

Hreflang belongs to the same technical SEO routine as checking your canonical tags and running a site audit after a redesign or a market launch. Whenever you add a country store, translate a section or change a URL pattern, regenerate the set here and paste the identical block everywhere the page cluster lives.

Hreflang Generator & Checker FAQs

Hreflang tags are link elements in a page head (or HTTP headers, or an XML sitemap) that tell Google which language and country each version of a page is for. A page with English, German and French versions carries one tag per version, like hreflang="de" for the German URL, on every version of the page. Used correctly, they stop the wrong-language page ranking in the wrong country and reduce duplicate-content confusion between near-identical regional pages, such as US and UK English.
