About the PDF to Markdown

Markdown is the lingua franca of documentation, note-taking and AI tools, but a mountain of valuable text is locked inside PDFs with nothing but visual layout to describe it. This PDF to Markdown converter unlocks it properly: not a raw text dump, but structured Markdown whose headings come from the document's real typography, whose paragraphs are whole sentences again, and whose lists are lists.

The typography analysis is the difference. By measuring font sizes across the whole document, the converter learns what a heading looks like in this particular PDF and maps the sizes to Markdown levels consistently, while vertical spacing tells it where paragraphs truly end. Wrapped lines are rejoined and end-of-line hyphenation is repaired, the two chores that make manual PDF cleanup so tedious.

Everything runs in your browser, so embargoed research, internal reports and client work can be converted without uploading a page. Download the .md and drop it into your docs, your notes or your AI workflow, with the structure intact.

PDF to Markdown FAQs

The tool reads the text layer of your PDF page by page and studies its typography. Lines set in the largest type become level-1 headings, the next sizes down become level-2 and level-3 headings, wrapped lines are joined back into real paragraphs, and lines that start with bullets or numbers become Markdown list items. The result is a structured .md file that reads like a document, not a pile of broken lines.
