About the PNG to JPG

PNG files are lossless, perfect for graphics but huge for photographs: a PNG screenshot can be 5 to 10 times larger than the same image as a high-quality JPG. This converter turns PNGs into compact JPGs with an adjustable quality slider and a choice of background color for transparent regions. Conversion happens locally: no uploads, no watermarks, and your images never leave your device.

Where it helps most

Shrinking the editable format.

Blog publishing

Bloggers run every PNG screenshot through this before publishing. The before and after sizes show side by side, so the saving is a concrete number.

Email attachments

Email senders convert oversized PNG attachments so messages actually go through. A 4 MB PNG becoming a 400 KB JPG is the difference between sent and bounced.

Upload limits

Marketplace sellers shrink PNG product shots to meet upload limits. Converting to JPG is the fastest legitimate way to shrink a file dramatically.

Slow connections

A screenshot saved as PNG can be five to ten times larger than the same image as JPEG. Converting first makes sharing over slow connections painless.

The transparency decision

One setting to get right.

Transparency becomes white

The one real decision in this conversion is what happens to transparency. JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas fill with white by default, with other colors available.

Keep PNG for logos

For most uses white is exactly right: product photos, screenshots, images headed for print. But if the transparency itself is the point, like a logo overlay, keep the PNG.

The 75-85 rule

A quality slider controls the tradeoff, and the honest guidance is the same as with any JPEG encoding: 75 to 85 percent keeps photographs looking identical.

PNG to JPG: private by design

No queue, no upload wait, no account between you and the smaller file.
